QUIET DAYS

Over the years I’ve led numerous small study groups, homegroups, and Lent Courses. Since retiring from full-time ministry I’ve led quiet mornings and quiet days. Here are two recent ones you may find of interest.

WINDOWS

Windows let the light in, and windows enable us to see what lies beyond. Using art and poetry as metaphorical windows, these three sessions offer fresh perspectives on enduring themes of faith to help participants uncover deeper, God-given desires beneath the surface of daily life.

The day consists of three talks with substantial periods of stillness for personal prayer and contemplation. Visual and written resources are available and there is an opportunity to share personal reflections at the end of the day.

What participants have said about Windows

‘A truly inspiring and thought-provoking presentation, which had clearly involved an enormous amount of work.  I was very moved, and  overwhelmingly aware of the presence of God and of His all-encompassing love.’

‘I spent quite a lot of time in the chapel, which was lovely and warm, and a great place for quiet contemplation.’

RIVERS OF GRACE

Rivers appear frequently in the Bible, which speaks of their life-giving qualities which makes them an excellent metaphor for God’s grace.

Rivers of Grace is a quiet day of reflection exploring the precious nature of England’s chalk streams - from their springs to their meandering courses to their approach to the sea. Together, we reflect on how they naturally meander, on the damage that can be done in controlling them, and on their liminal nature as they approach the ocean.

Reflecting on scripture alongside other spiritual writings, this peaceful day encourages a look back to the source of our faith and forward to what is to come. It’s a gentle space for rest, contemplation, and spiritual renewal.

What participants have said about Rivers of Grace

‘It was spot on, a welcome chance to relax with God, to have some guided thoughts … . Your words about rivers, Andy, I found very helpful and inspirational, and I loved the pictures and the  poetry, thank you for the handouts!’

‘I just wanted to thank you for arranging the Quiet Morning yesterday which I personally valued. The inputs gave food for thought and reflection in the times of quiet.’
